Toronto Seniors Strategy 2.0

The City of Toronto Council approved the Toronto Seniors Strategy 2.0 in May 2018. We are proud to be on the Toronto Seniors Strategy Accountability Table to advocate for community programs and services which would improve the lives of frail older adults.

Version 2.0 of the Toronto Seniors Strategy builds upon the success of version 1.0, with 27 high-impact recommendations. Development of version 2.0 was informed by an extensive and inclusive community engagement process and co-creation between the City of Toronto and the Toronto Seniors Strategy Accountability Table.
As a member of the Toronto Seniors Strategy Accountability Table, the RGP of Toronto advocated for community programs and services which would support frail older adults in optimizing their function and independence. Many of the 27 recommendations are directly aligned with the Senior Friendly Care Framework and Senior Friendly 7, such as programs to support social connectedness, better access to healthy food, programs and supports to increase mobility, an anti-ageism campaign and the creation of a caregiver strategy, to name just a few.
The RGP of Toronto also advocated for inclusion of the voices of the most vulnerable older adults, their caregivers and healthcare providers by suggesting engagement consultations in hospital settings, and co-created one of these events with the City of Toronto and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
We continue to be actively involved in bringing the recommendations of the Toronto Seniors Strategy 2.0 to life. Click here for Toronto Seniors Strategy Version 2.0.
