Presented by Deborah Brown, Nurse Practitioner, Senior Friendly Care Strategy and Mary-Lynn Peters, Clinical Manager, Professional Practice

For patients experiencing neurological or developmental vulnerability –  actions, words, and gestures are a response to something important. These personal expressions have meaning and are a way of communicating needs and concerns. This webinar will introduce the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network Community of Practice (TAHSN CoP) Person-Centred Language for Responsive Behaviours guideline. The discussion will encourage us to look past the pathology, seeking the root cause of behaviours in order to understand the person and his or her expressions. When the language we use is specific and objective, it facilitates understanding and optimal care planning.
